October Break- Day 6 & 7

Sanya Hainan & Changsha, Hunan

So because of the typhoon, we couldn’t get train tickets and when we eventually could on Day 5, there were none available for when we needed to leave. Therefore we booked plane tickets and got an extra full day in Sanya. This day became a girls/boys day. Jack and Thomas took a surfing lesson. Jack picked it up fairly quickly and made it look easy out there. I enjoyed watching this time around. Maybe another time I can try but I’m pretty sure my nonmuscular arms would fail me. While the boys were in their lesson a few of us girls went into town to get a pedicure. We were successful! For the equivalent of $5.5, I got a pedicure. Then we did a little bit of shopping and grabbed some McDonald’s ice cream before heading back. We met the boys for lunch, and I got french toast. So delicious. We then went to the beach for the rest of the day so Jack could surf some more and I could write postcards. We had our last supper at a Japanese restaurant before two of the group headed out.

And finally, Day 7 was our travel day home. We made it to the Sanya airport successfully and checked it. Boarded the plane on time at 11:40 and jetted back to Changsha. We landed around 1:30 and then had the process of actually getting back to Qingzhuhu. After a 90 kuai taxi, two 2 kuai busses, we successfully returned home to our humble abode and do the necessary things like shower and laundry. The rest of the weekend has been spent teaching, and we still have 4 days ahead of us but it’s nice to see all of our students again. Until the next adventure…
